Based on a fact that captured the attention of Fortaleza residents, the press, and law enforcement: the actions of the “José Walter maniac,” also known as “cortabunda,” the film chronicles what happened in the mid-1980s in the Prefeito José Walter neighborhood. Print and television reports were collected, as well as testimonies from victims and those who experienced various attacks.

In the 19th century, along with his companions, he prevented the slave trade on the beaches of Ceará. Keeping watch, he would locate any vessel entering the port and sail his raft, the Liberator, to announce the cessation of the slave trade in the state. History has recorded his literary cry.

When unscrupulous soldiers—deserters from the Prestes Column—begin to torment a humble family at the behest of an excommunicated priest, Salvador is forced to join forces with Lampião’s gang to bring justice.

A film adaptation of José de Alencar’s novel of the same name, Iracema, daughter of the Tabajaras, is promised to be the wife of the warrior chief Irapuã. Martim, a Portuguese man tasked with guarding the Ceará coast against foreign invasions, gets lost in the forest and ends up meeting Iracema. After a strong attraction develops, she confesses to Martim that she is no longer a virgin and that if she returns to her tribe, she will be killed.

Augusto “Palhaço” is a notorious criminal from Ceará who, after leaving prison for a failed bank robbery, is invited to enter the organ trafficking market. His job is to kidnap a newborn, take him to a secluded hideout in the Sertão Central region, and await the arrival of the traffickers. When the gang is dismantled by the police, Augusto is assigned to care for the child for longer than expected.

A 320-hour course aimed to train and qualify audiovisual producers residing in the state of Ceará (with a primary focus on the marketing and production aspects of film and audiovisual production). The course, entirely free, was held in-person from March to June 2023 at Porto Iracema das Artes. It was organized by Toque de Midas Produções, co-organized by Palíndromo Produções, and sponsored by the Ceará State Department of Culture (Secultce), with support from Porto Iracema das Artes and the Federal University of Ceará.
